Dr. Hijjo is a proficient English and Arabic linguist, researcher, translator and interpreter with a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) focused on framing narratives in media translation from the University of Malaya (2018). He has 10 years of experience in research and teaching, as well as 15 years of experience in the translation and interpreting industry. His research interests include Translation Studies, Discourse Analysis, Narrative Inquiry, Framing Theory, Intercultural communication and Middle Eastern Studies. |

In general, Dr. Hijjo’s research is interdisciplinary in nature. It builds upon several academic fields across humanities and social sciences including translation studies, linguistics, intercultural communication, framing theory, narrative inquiry, sociology, media studies and political science. It aims at undertaking the task of understanding the current civil wars in the Arab world, and their factors and impacts locally and internationally, especially within the narrative of the ‘War on Terror’. Dr. Hijjo’s research attempts to inform the officials and the public of a more local -inside- perspective on the matter, which may in turn change the course of foreign agenda settings and offer tools for counterterrorism, xenophobia and immigration crisis.
